Hmm - thanks for posting. I'd expected much better from KA, and blaming the age of the a/c for the poor aircon is just inexcusable. Given the temperature outside was probably -50C, it sounds like the heating systems needed to be turned off for a bit.
Hopefully KA will get better hardware in a couple of years. Don't know what their fleet renewal plan is. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Thanks Bala for posting this. I used to take this flight once in two weeks when I was in Shanghai for some work around the same time last year and always had good experiences. Loads on outbound used to be poor till HKG, but inbound always used to be packed. Food was decent as well., pity with the age of the aircraft and the air-con issue. |

Bala, thanks for posting a very nice trip report. The more-than-warm-welcome must have been unnerving, it feels awful. DragonAir offer a decent selection of food in terms of quantity, but I guess the quality did not match. HKG has a nice City Check-in on the Airport Express train. The Airport Express did not have any power-ports in 2010, when I last used it. Does it have them, now? Plus my usual question - the KA bird was quite old, I do not think it would have any power-ports on the seats, at least in Y. Is this correct?
Cheers, Sumantra. |

That looked like a decidedly average flight on ageing metal, it'll be interesting to see what KA opt for to improve their fleet in the coming decade - long haul seems exclusively done by the 333s as of today, of which they still have a couple on order. _________________ Yeah. |

Thanks for the comments folks.. I hope this route gets taken over by CX soon.
Sumantra - there were no power ports at least in Y. |

Thanks for the report Bala, dissapointing that DragonAir did not live up to the expectations. I flew on them between Hong Kong and Beijing a few years ago and I did like the service than.
