DXB-CGK-DXB on Emirates

Jakarta (CGK) - Denpasar (DPS) on Sriwijaya Air
DPS - Yogyakarta (JOG) on Lion Air
JOG-DPS on Garuda Indonesia
DPS-CGK on Lion Air

First flight ..... ill just post a few pics. 2 class layout 77W A6-EBL ?

Seafood something, lobster tail + shrimps + scallops.

Marshaller standing on a ladder...

Jakarta airport is pretty busy but old. The car-park reminded me of the old BLR HAL airport

Driving to town (not much to do in Jakarta...not the most exciting city)

Sriwijaya
Check in. In all Indonesian airports they x-ray your stuff when you enter the terminal. It was quick, never had to wait more than 20 seconds. I like that idea, none of this 'no visitors' rubbish.

After check-in and paying the departure fee (4 USD) there was this open air area, with the 'wings' branching out to the air-conditioned holding areas.

Here is when things got interesting. Our boarding pass said one gate B6, the information screens said B2. We assumed the screens had the updated information and waited at that gate. Not only did the information screen at B2 have our flight on it, it said delayed by :40 mins. We sat we waited, other flights were boarding. Around when we thought boarding would be announced we walked around saw nothing. Asked an agent she had no clue, asked another one she said go to B6. Ok. Went to B6 and it was the final call, everyone had boarded + the flight was on time!!! They took our boarding passes, we ran to the aircraft, sat down, door closed and we left in 4 mins Rolling Eyes It was the closest iv come to missing a flight. What was going on with the information screens showing a delayed flight hmmmm.
Because of the rush no pictures of the aircraft. They had a classic 737 so I got super excited but just my luck our flight was a boring ass 738 with winglets.

Rolling Eyes

Airside Jakarta

Flight was on time, it was around a 1:45 flight. We got water and a muffin.

Bali airport- lots of internationals. Others I saw were SQ and QR.

Departing DPS

Lion Air to Yogyakarta.

They are building a brand new terminal, so most of this is temporary/in some phase of construction.

Flew the 50th 739ER.

New aircraft. Nothing really to say, short flight less than an hour They had stuff to buy but no snacks/drinks.

Air Asia pushing back.

Baggage claim, small airport (but busy)

Departing JOG back to DPS on Garuda Indonesia.

Dont think they had common check in counters at any airport ... separate lines for each destinations.

Departure area, small crowded terminal but very busy. In the hour that we were there around 3 ATR flights + 6 737/320s came and left.

Our ride

Zooming in on the map

[

Route network doesn't look up to date, iv seen their 330s in DXB

Nice snack box. Some meat sandwich + they came around with water bottles + juices/tea/coffee.

Really comfortable flight, clean new aircraft.

New terminal at DPS under construction.

Parked next to her at DPS

Leaving DPS heading back to CGK on Lion Air. New terminal under construction.

Long walk from the parking lot to the terminal

Plenty to eat outside

The departure tax. All domestic flights were 40,000 Indonesian Rupiah ($4) international was $13 I think.

737-900ER ... what else on Lion?

Environmentally friendly?

Interesting ....

Take off from DPS ... huge bridge being built.

Landing in CGK, non sustainable fish farming?

Welcome to Jakarta!

Flight back home!!! CGK-DXB on EK
CGK terminal.

Nice surprise, it was the new 77W seats!!

Auto window shades

Climbing out of Jakarta

Little wireless tablet controllers

With the other small controller...

Seats

Legs out

Food!!!! Razz Razz .... no menu picture sorry.
Soup

Chicken appetiser

Mains .... sorry was hungry forgot to take pics before

stealthpilot - a picture says more than a thousand words, and so many of these? It is a grand report, thanks for sharing this with us! Needless to say, I loved the pictures of the food. Nice pictures of the J class in an EK 777, along with some pictures of exotic airlines and exotic airports from the Indonesian archipelago! It was nice to see the fleet on the magazines - something most of us AI.netters do as soon as we see an inflight magazine. The Garuda 737 really looks nice from the inside. The bicycles on the tarmac, and the 732 - were the JT8Ds on? Thanks for sharing this report with us, again!
Cheers, Sumantra.

Excellent TR, stealthpilot.
Very crisp and your comments/observations are very airline/aircraft/airport-centric.

I always thought Garuda and aviation disaster are synonumous but things have improved (newer aircraft for example) over the years as I can see from your TR. The airport pictures are cool.

Thank you everyone.
Bali was great, 3 days +2 days was enough tho .....

I liked this new EK J seat more- not only the tablet controller but the screen was nicer.

The airports were clean .... so was the country (relatively). The temples/ruins were all clean and well maintained, no garbage or 'vishnu loves swati' carved into something 1000 years old like we have in India Crying or Very sad

Hhehehehe I still think these Indonesian airlines are synonymous with disaster. The amount of runway over-runs/excursions Lion air has had is something to believe. I told the wife it adds to the excitement...

Thanks for sharing. I never seem to get bored of TRs featuring EK - there's a remarkable consistency about them (proportionate to their size) that rarely gets old.

Nice Report.

Indonesia is one place where you can still see a lot of the exotic aircraft types from the most modern to the most vintage.

The design of the Jakarta terminal is quite a classic and unique from the steel and glass that we see now a days in the name of modern design.

Sir umm, I missed out a lot.
The pictures aren't there!

Anyways, strange incident there about the wrong information! I'm sure that is quite rare!

It would be great if you could put the pictures up again, thanks.

Edit - same for the EK/ AI J class TR Sad

Regards
Jishnu..
