50 years of passenger flying with the Boeing 707 - Celebrate the anniversary in style: on board a Boeing 707!
We are happy to announce a very special tour to Iran. 26 October is the 50th anniversary of the Boeing 707 in passenger service (it first flew on the New York-Paris route), no other jet has ever surpassed this before. We invite you to celebrate in style: on board a Boeing 707. The only airline currently flying regular passenger services with the type is Saha Airlines in Iran.
Further highlights of the tour include a flight on Fars Air Qeshm´s Yakovlev 42 and it seems like Iran Air will open its maintenance area for us for the first time as well. All in all, a very compact tour not to be missed. In addition, we offer a tour extension to visit the IRan Air Show being held at Kish from OCT 28 on.
The tour's highlights are:
- 2 domestic flight legs with SAHA's Boeing 707 one of the very last planes of this type still in passenger service.
- 2 domestic flights with Fars Air Qhesm Yak 42
- Visit of the storage area at Merhabad Airport (subject to permission)
- A couple of days in exotic, wonderful and a bit unknown Iran
- Optional: Flights to Kish and back and visit of the Iran Air Show |

Is this off limits to US citizens? They should do an anniversary NYC-PAR flight instead. _________________ http://openflights.org/user/akumanduri |

With only 3 operational pax. 707s in the world, & all of them being Iranian registered to Saha, I doubt they would get clearance to fly to the US. Besides I'm not sure those birds are in shape to fly trans-atl.
Don't think this tour is off limits to US citizens. I was planning on visiting Iran in Feb., as a part of my trip to BOM, to try & get on the 747SP (if it still operates out of BOM at that time). I checked & there seems to be no real restrictions for US citizens / residents to fly to Iran. Would be great to get on a 707 again though - it was the first airplane I flew on as an infant! |

BBC video report from the Kish Air Show. They talk of how Iran has become a mecca for spotters, & also has a short interview with 2 guys (probably from airevents.de) who flew to Iran to fly Saha's 707.
