With flights operated by 747s becoming an increasingly rare event, relatively speaking, I was trying to figure out how often one finds themselves aboard a once fairly common airplane type these days. So.....
When was the last time you were on a Seven - Forty - Seven ?
My last 747 flight was on an Air India 747-400; LHR-BOM; Aug 2005. |

Numerous times - mostly on LH on their BLR-FRA-SFO sectors, and occasionally on SQ on their flagship SQ1/2 route.
The most recent was this February flying LH and their 744s. Not a pleasant experience in terms of comforts! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

From BLR, we have LH and BA flying 744s (besides the once a week AI 126/127 route to ORD). AF & EK fly their 332/772 while CX/TG/MH all fly the 332/333 and SQ flies the 772/3 (until they get their regional 333s I guess).
So ex-BLR - LH and BA are the best ways to get on a 744. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Wow, Iberia was still sending 747s to JFK in 2003? Was this some sort of substitution or regular service? |

My guess is that it was a substitution as the schedules showed an A340. The return from MAD was an A343. _________________ http://openflights.org/user/akumanduri |

I guess the_380 holds the record for going the longest without setting foot aboard a 747, while Karan has the most recent trip on one. |

747-200 and 747-300 : I'm guessing mid to late '90s; BOM-DXB-BOM (back when they still had a first class on the -300s)
747-100 and 747SP : Never been on either...there's still hope though, thanks to Iran Air Keeping my fingers crossed that my grand plan someday works out before they're gone for good!!
(If ANYONE wants to see if we can do a BOM-THR-BOM trip to fly these in late Jan. '09, please let me know.) |

Horrendous, Horrible , Harrowing, Hilarious!!
But to be fair my trip from RUH to MAA was the best I had on SV, the others one the BOM-RUH-BOM sector was sheer nightmare!!
P.S. - You get slightly better service in Y is you are dressed in a blazer or suit!! |

UA 744 FRA-IAD Jan 07.
Good flight apart from the fact that I was very sick. Channel 9 kept me entertained most of the way. _________________ eP007 |

Those were the days when a 747 was just a 747 for me!! .. Now I know better!! But the trip was a "memorable" one - leaking a/c duct, the oxygen masks in the rown front of mine deployed during take off, the window shades were very pally with Mr.Gravity and the worst service ever!! |
