Jet Airways
9W 536 BOM - DXB
VT - JBF
Seat: 33A
STD: 1225hrs ATD: 1223hrs
STA: 1355hrs ATA: 1340hrs
Loads: 98/168
Once again, since 9Ws 737 services and BOM/DXB in general have been reviewed a lot I just wish to add quick pointers to my trip report.
I dedicate this JetReport to jasepl for inspiring me always to go there and pen down any Jetexperience.
* After being rejected on EK for two flights, it was best to take the 9W option after confirming their BOM - DXB flights were empty.
* Ticket issues on our intranet and went to the Jet Staff counter for listing. Similar to my earlier BLR BOM trip; the Jetsystems are borderline joke with absolutely nightmareish wait for basic things like creating the PNR
* The Jetgirl at the counter did all her best and finally worked her way to put me on standby and creating a PNR.
* Along with me 6 more EK staff were trying for this flight. Approximately 90 minutes prior to departure we got accepted and rushed to immigration
* By the time we reached gate: 65A; boarding was almost done and by 1210 hrs doors were closed.
* Aircraft was clean but seats were showing their age with rust gathered around steel hooks.
* Awful legroom post refurbishment it seems.
* Crew welcomed us politely, unlike EK no lime juice or wet towels or een packets.
* IFE was working, safety demo video played and we had a "samay par" departure.
* Aircraft seem to be inbound from HYD as the moving map was still synced for HYD - BOM but was showing the actual position of the aircraft.
* After take off, drinks service followed by meal and then tea/coffee
* Meals tasted nice, consisted of Chicken chettinad, okra and rice with chocolate mousse
* IFE had decent collections for 4 to 5 hour flights.
* Crew were polite and courteous, not the best I have experienced on Jet but nothing negative either.
* We landed " samay par" after an absolutely uneventful flight.
What I missed on this flight?
* Welcome drinks/cold towel .... not really a deal breaker but just devaluates your experience.
* Decent Legroom.
Verdict:
Overall an average experience with a largely uneventful flight. For 2 hour flight within India, I see absolutely nothing negative in what they had on offer. However my BLR BOM flight 2 years ago was much better. |

Nice to know you had a decent flight..
JetReservations are a pain, but they look better now! ( )
JetSeats'll stay the same, no matter what.

Thanks for a quick TR !
In the things that you missed - you could have included "widebody experience" _________________ www.networkthoughts.com |

Nice, short and sweet, Ojas!
Your experience shows that in spite of many positives in Jet Airways of late, they still have quite a bit of catching up to do, at least, in their consistency.
The load factor is quite a bit of concern.
If having a boarding pass re-issued at Jet is such an issue, I wonder how it is on Air India, for instance. On one instance, I remember AI transferring all their passengers to IT (12 Jan 2012: the day of the ICPA strike), when I should have been stranded at IGIA T3, but was not: AI staff handled it beautifully.
31. AI strike(,) PAT in the back: Patna, Jan'12

I do not understand the mechanisms behind this, but was taking the 6 of you as stand-by passengers the only solution, which necessitated an unnecessary rush 90 minutes before the flight, and that too at Jet's primary hub, Mumbai?
The leg-room part is disappointing as well.
The working AVOD IFE with nice content, is a big positive!
So is the food: as per your description.
Welcome drinks and towels: I guess all airlines from India stopped this a long time back, in Y: unfortunately!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

- they only accepted you 1:30 hours before the flight when it wasn't empty?
- Immigration took almost an hour?
- Can you list yourself online, or does 9W not have that option?
- Seems like a normal nice short flight (barring the legroom but I think thats pretty standard now on most airlines) _________________ eP007 |

@ameya ... true but didn't want to sound too elitist
@sumantra ji - "I do not understand the mechanisms behind this, but was taking the 6 of you as stand-by passengers the only solution, which necessitated an unnecessary rush 90 minutes before the flight, and that too at Jet's primary hub, Mumbai? "
I didn't understand your query but let me put it this way. As a non rev I didn't have a confirmed seats. Standby tickets are subject to availibility and we are normally accepted only once check in is done and seats are released by the flight load control. So it is a done thing that at big airports we have to rush through always.
@stealthpilot
"they only accepted you 1:30 hours before the flight when it wasn't empty?"
Unfortuantely yes.\
"- Immigration took almost an hour? Confused "
No check in took 20 mins as the system hung, followed by 15 mins at security and then another 25mins ish at immigration.
"- Can you list yourself online, or does 9W not have that option? "
No Jetsystems are awful. you have to call the Jettorture centre |

I guess non-rev'ing is more of a hit-or-a-miss even when a flight is wide open, since Flight Load Control may wait till quite late, to account for last-moment bookings.

Did you at least have a plane with the orgasm inducing sky interiors?
In case you didn't immediately realise, its if you discovered that you had a funny feeling in your pants when embarking and a bit of odd wetness in the same place when disembarking.
If that didn't happen, then you didn't have the sky plane or you did, but you're too dumb to realise that (W + sky interior = best thing ever. _________________ four years free of jetya punti! |

While having an orgasm, some people hit the shift key when not required.
You weren't on 9W flight when you typed that , were you?
Or were you on an EY flight ? _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).
