Manufacturer/Model - Volvo B9R
Pillows - NO
Blankets - Yes
Water - 500 ML
Seat Pitch- generous -I am not exactly tiny and had no issues even when the person in front reclined the seat fully.
Other comments - The operator I travelled ons is one of the few who have taken out the last row of seats and converted it into a sleeper berth for the second driver. This inititative is to be commended as the operator does pay attention to proper rest for the crew. |

Gentlemen
No laughing matter this.
I paid 1350 for the overnight trip. Bus was a Volvo B9R 2 x 2 push back with two drop down screens.End to end 12 hours but this is city centre to city centre (almost!).
For same sector II A/C is 1240 III a/c is 860 and Sleeper 320 by Indian Railways
Flight for the same route cost 2800 bookerd one month out or 4500 if booked 1 or 2 days out (LCC).
Trains take roughly the same if not more time for this sector and much more on a route like TRV MAA.
Most of the highways have improved beyond imagination with the result that on a route like Hyderabad Trivandrum a Volvo B11R takes just over 20 hours while the daily trains takes 30 hours.
This without a doubt these buses are attracting a big chunk of the price sensitive air travellers especially when the journey times are 12 hours or less.
Interestingly now there are some longhaul routes as well. Bangalore Jodhpur, Bangalore Ahmedabad, Hyderabad Ahmedabad, Hyderabad Kochi etc. |

I was stunned when I heard about a daily Volvo on Bangalore-Surat! Takes about 20 hours (if I remember right), very comfortable and much faster than the train. Lots of folks at work from Surat, and they constantly take the bus to/from home.
Bangalore - Jodhpur - that's something even further out. Wow! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |
