Although I originally planned to repost three of my old TRs which appeared in Airliners.net, I thought I would share this fourth one as well on Indian Airlines. I really miss the old IC, my first ever flight was on them, and over the years I have seen them really becoming top notch.
The HYD airport was the old one at Begumpet as the new one was a few years from being operational

Worse than having a backlog of trip report to write...is having trip reports to read. TKMCE Sir, thank you for pulling this out of history, and re-posting this here, with interesting incidents and a nice dose of humour! An international flight's domestic legs are still quite an excitement for me. Thanks for this report we got to hear about the nice and professional service on the IC of yore. The planning was quite interesting. The name part was an efficient job done: in today's scenario, any airline would also charge for the fare difference, which could be really substantial, given the short time interval. Compulsory X-ray scan at arrivals...hmm...I've seen this at other stations as well. I can relate to some descriptions of the terminal(s) of the 2000s, having seen the sights in person. Food-wise of course, I have very pleasant memories of the IC days, in particular, the food festivals!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Cheers, Sumantra. |

Another classy TR with IC!
Nice scenes from the airport, about the wrong name and all - do this today and you're screwed because a small typo is generally a security threat.
Full meals on this flight: wow! You barely get a sandwich these days, but ah well.
Thanks for sharing these oldies with us!
Regards
