Interestingly, while 154% may sound like the B777 is very strong etc..even the A340 ( its much maligned competitor) passed 150%.
The A330 however, failed 150% and was certified by analysis (possibly extrapolating the desired result)
Also, recently A380 failed at 147% and was certified by analysis.
I believe the B-2 bomber (Batwing) was 161%
There is a whole website (AskLim) dedicated to the promotion of B777 vs A330/340-one of the points mentioned is that B777 wings are sturdier and shake less than A340..and hence the plane feels better and more re-assured during a turbulent ride.
But I think in heavy turbulence, it doesnt make a difference anyhow. |
