On the topic of towing the Aircraft to the runway:-
1.You'll need one tug per Aircraft & space to get the tug back to the bay.
2.In case of a tug breakdown, added confusion by getting more repair vehicles on the Taxtrack/runway.
3.In case of Engine start.Ground personnell with Grd fire Extinguishers would need to walk the distance accompanying the Aircraft & during Engine start.Which is not safe.
