What's the latest on BOM AWG? This is the first time I stepped into Av hobby forum.
YYZ AWG memeber's are treated just the same as non-members by the authorities. We don't have any special rights, we are basically volunteers to keep a watch on any suspicious activities. But I think in BOM the CISF is doing that job pretty well it seems Here we don't have too many jawans, In India they are a surplus, be it the jawans or the havildars.
The only benefit being a awg member is the tours we get once in a while to some aviation related Industry. |

Well, since u ask of the latest update, typical indian mentality has and had to reign supreme.
If we got it, the AWG operational then there would be no exclusivity of pictures. And then would not the dias of indias famous photographers be shared.
And the most imp question amongst indians is, why should i even try for something that will benefit all _________________ Dictum meum pactum, "My word is my bond". |

After reading all the previous posts, i'm a trifle confused as to the status of the progress being made towards forming an AWG at VABB . I am 100% for it as it will render our photo folks as bonafide and hopefully no harassment thereafter . How do we go about getting all organised into one disciplined group in order to take things to the next step. I'm eager and enthusiastic to know and contribute. I suppose primarily for starters , one would have to provide proof of domicile status in Mumbai ? |

Well some of our members are so media savvy that the attention they got was unfortunately of the cops who now patrol the vabb spotting areas.
Once the heat is low, maybe we can revisit the issue _________________ Dictum meum pactum, "My word is my bond". |

All you excellent spotters firstly need to meet up at a common place & get organised, thereafter put your ideas in place, get advice from spotter groups abroad & finally present it in an organised way to the Authorities ensuring that you have the press on your side too.
It should be made clear that as spotters you are following all regulations in place & how you all can be the eye in case of any lawbreaking around airports is present.
Thats my suggestion.

Good suggestion , Mel. So here's the clarion call to all VABB spotters who are genuinely interested in the AWG, let's decide where, when and what steps ,etc. needs to be taken to set the ball rolling . Imho, too much time has gone by and the idea abt AWG has not gained any momentum. About involving the press for publicity, i'm not too sure about that !
If i may add, of the many conversations i used to have with our dear Nalini, she used to always say " if u guys are so passionate about it, then just do the right thing and go ahead and approach the concerned authorities unitedly"
I am sure we'd make her extremely proud and happy bcos that's one of the many things she wanted for us spotters to succeed in., be it mumbai or wherever in india. |
