Well that leaves with just VT-SIZ & VT-SJA (no news of VT-JLB). At least I can predict the flight delays and routes better now with my FR24 receiver and only 2 aircrafts to track.

Good move IMO


Any Y classes that don't tier points at all? If not, this seems like a positive move - bringing higher fares closer to the next FFP level. At the same time if the level boundaries are unchanged, even the cheapest Y travelers are not negatively impacted.

By the looks of it no. The lowest fare I could book was on O, which gets you 1 tier point.

Jet Airways Kozhikode / Thiruvananthapuram – Doha S15 Frequency Adjustment

Based on recent schedule update, Jet Airways has revised planned operational frequencies on Kozhikode – Doha and Thiruvananthapuram – Doha service, due to start from 15MAR15. With the latest revision, 9W will operate these flights 3 times a week (except peak season), instead of daily.

Kozhikode – Doha Service operates 3 weekly instead of planned daily

Jet Airways starts testing mobile boarding passes from Bengaluru

Jet Airways has started testing mobile boarding passes on select flights from the Bengaluru airport, the airline said in a statement today. The airline said the pilot project has been kicked off on select flights from Bengaluru to Mumbai and New Delhi from February 12. To facilitate the process, the Naresh Goyal-led airline has entered into a partnership with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India and the Bengaluru international airport, it said in a statement today.

During this trial phase, a passenger can use the barcoded boarding pass on the mobile phone to enter the airport and after the security checks can board the flight, and that the Bengaluru airport has already installed mobile boarding pass scanners at the entrance, security check-points and at the boarding gates. To use mobile boarding passes, Jet passengers will need to check in online and opt for a mobile boarding pass.

Commenting on the development, Jet Airways chief executive Cramer Ball said the initiative will greatly improve the on-ground guest experience during departure. If the city’s experience is good, the airline may extend this service across all Jet flights. Bengaluru airport managing director GV Sanjay Reddy said, the mobile boarding pass trial is a process improvement with simplicity and convenience at its core and will have a direct impact on time saved and the overall passenger experience.

Only applicable for 9W 828. There are two separate lines at security for this flight, with bar code scanners.

In the summer schedule, looks like 9W is fortifying its weaker position in DEL vs Vistara and increasing its aircraft utilisation by flying late night/early morning sectors.

DEL - CCU - increases to 3 daily (up from 2 daily right now).

DEL - HYD - 3 daily (Up from 1 daily right now).

DEL - PAT - increases to 2 daily (up from 1 daily right now)

DEL - MAA - increases to 5 daily (up from 4 daily right now) on top of recent increase from 1st Feb

DEL - BLR - increases to 10 daily (9 daily on BLR DEL) - up 1 flight a day each way on top of recent increase from 1st Feb

DEL - BOM - increases to 15 daily (16 daily on return) - up 1 flight a day each way

DEL - LKO - increases to 5 daily (3 737, 2 ATR) - up 1 737 flight a day

As Abhijit had posted, all the BOM additions from 1st Feb continue

In addition, BOM CCU goes up to 7 daily (up from 6 daily at present)
BOM GOI goes up to 6 daily (with the new flight rotation as BOM GOI AUH GOI BOM)
It is still a mystery how the PNQ AUH PNQ aircraft will be positioned.

Nice increases, but I still think 9W is losing share to 6E and is not doing enough to regain it. 3X on DEL-HYD and 6X on DEL-MAA seems quite deficient (I don't recall 6E's frequencies offhand, but I'm assuming they're already much higher than this).

Nimish, it is not 6E alone. Even AI has better frequencies on quite a few of these routes.
AI's DEL-CCU is 4 times daily, with two of them on Dream)liners, and the other two on larger narrow-bodies (A321s)
AI's DEL-HYD is 5 times daily, with one on a B77W
AI's DEL-MAA is 5 times daily
AI's DEL-PAT is 3 times daily
AI's DEL-BOM is comparable in terms of frequencies, but sees a daily B77W operation, and half-weekly Dream)liner operations.

Of the ones stated, Jet has better frequencies than AI on only the BLR route (where AI's 5 daily flights include two Dream)liner operations) and LKO.

from DEL, 6E is the clear leader in the frequency game (only daily direct flights mentioned below) barring of course the few airports they dont fly to (ATQ, DED, BHO)

The customer-centric initiative is part of Jet Airwas’ strategy to simplify the travel experience and engage with guests on a real-time basis.

Jet Airways’ initiative has been developed in collaboration with Twitter and technology partner, TravelSpends.

Cramer Ball, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways said: “Innovation has always been a key feature in Jet Airways’ operating philosophy and #JetInstant is another pioneering customer driven initiative. By using digital and social media platforms, we will empower our guests with information that can help them plan their travel more efficiently and enhance their overall experience with Jet Airways.”

Arvinder Gujral, Director, Business Development, Twitter India and SE Asia, said: “Twitter always has and will continue to encourage innovation on our platform. This is a first for us in the field of aviation in India and we congratulate Jet Airways for their creative use of Twitter.”

How to Twitter:

1. To take advantage of #JetInstant, flyers will first need to follow the official Jet Airways Twitter account @jetairways.

2. To get the flight status, flyers can Tweet ‘@jetairways fltstatus <Flight> <Departure>’ – within seconds, the update will be sent as a Direct Message (DM) to their Twitter account.

3. For LoFares details, flyers need to Tweet ‘@jetairways lofares <Origin> <Destination> <Departure> <Return>’. For example, to search for the lowest fare for a flight from Mumbai to Delhi on the 4th of March with a return trip the next day, flyers can Tweet: ‘@jetairways lofares BOM DEL 0403 0503′. The #JetInstant service sends the lowest fare available as a DM with a direct link to complete the booking process seamlessly on jetairways.com.

4. Twitter users can Tweet @jetairways #JetInstant for any assistance with regards to the service.

9W is bolstering its PNQ operation. adding 2nd daily PNQ-MAA-PNQ, 2nd daily BOM PNQ BOM rotation and 4th daily PNQ-DEL-PNQ operation. The schedules for new flights are

Jet Airways acknowledged that there has been some pilot resignations following the integration of Jet Airways and JetLite to operate under the single Jet Airways brand in Dec-2014 (Economic Times/The Hindu Business Line, 22-Mar-2015). The JetLite pilots have reportedly expressed concern that the contract conditions have changed following the merger, and some have reportedly demanded to resign immediately as the six-month mandatory notice period was no longer applicable on them.

Jet Airways has been given permission by the ministry of civil aviation to get a wide body Airbus 330 aircraft on wet lease from Etihad Airways to start this service. But the airline is yet to get final permission from the DGCA and Ball said today that cargo operations should start by May this year.

Jet Airways plans to increase capacity on domestic routes by 5% and on international routes by 11% from the summer schedule which begins from March 29.

Jet Airways has been asking for permission from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to enter into 23 new code share agreements with partner airlines. Ball said some permission are through and the new international destinations (some where Jet does not fly as of now) as part of code share pacts will be announced shortly

Jet will continue to operate under two separate Air Operators' Permits (flying permits) of Jet Airways and Jetlite even though it ceased LCC operations under JetLite in December. Ball says there are 9 aircraft under JetLit and though both AOPs will continue, the airline's entire network will operate as full service.

Jet Airways / airberlin to Start Codeshare Service from late-April 2015

Jet Airways from 27APR15 begins codeshare partnership with airberlin, which sees Jet’s “9W” code appears on following service operated by AB. Reservation for these codeshare service is now available.

Abu Dhabi – Dusseldorf

VT-JLB is back in air since couple of weeks - probably in full 9W livery - but without its ADS-B transponder.

Jet is going after 6E !

DEL-PNQ-DEL is one of the few sectors where 9W has more flights than 6E

The capacity it vacated at HYD is being filled slowly and same is the case with AMD. All they now need is strong engineering to back them up with these high utilizations which will be close to 12:00 soon

Unrelated, but a sad sight, nevertheless. `A6', with the `Operated by Etihad Airways' titles in front, taxing at JFK airport in some rather inclement rainy weather, clicked a day and a half back, 20 April, 2015.

A sad reminder of what might have been. This possibly had the best hardware configuration among all airlines, when it was inducted, and is still in the league of the best, even 8 years later.

The MoCA gave away India's passengers to international carriers, in particular the ME3, over the past 20 years.

Greed, chicanery, graft, that special brand of Indian venality that exists nowhere else in the world, shortsightedness, socialism & destructive protectionism (AI, AI, AI), crony capitalism (9W), incompetence (IT, AI, 9W) have all conspired to create an untenable situation.

The only reason domestic flights are still viable is because foreign carriers are barred from such operations.

This means that Jet has not much interest in expanding international long haul operations. They may lease back enough aircraft to keep the existing Europe/N. America ops, who knows they may even scale that back too.

I thought they would at least make an attempt in introducing flights like India-AUH-SFO/LAX or some other city which are large business/tourist centers.

EY currently flies SFO-AUH using 9W leased metal. Why does 9W need to start their own?

Maybe 9W just wants to use the 787-9 on their long haul flying to save costs? Or perhaps the only way they can afford the 787 is to dump these planes?

9W to resume AMD-BHO-IDR-AMD on the AT7, MAA-PNQ-IDR on the 737 eff 26APR.

ATR rotation - HYD-PNQ-AMD-BHO-IDR-AMD-PNQ-HYD

PNQ-IDR decreases to 1 daily 737, from double daily ATR..

Well put, Sanjay: the sad story of Indian full-service carriers. Something in your post above, which excited me, in the two hours at JFK T4, in concourse A. The following is an excerpt from a trip report in the works, which I will post in due course of time (sigh).

I found it quite ironic that all three of India's full service
carriers (once upon a time, that is) AI, 9W and IT (Air India,
Jet Airways and Kingfisher) were represented in terms of aircraft
that had once graced their fleets, at one point in time: all in
the gap of some two odd hours at gates A1-A7, at JFK airport T4!

I had first sighted `A6', with the `Operated by Etihad Airways'
titles in front, taxing at JFK airport in some rather inclement
rainy weather, 20 April, 2015.


Arik Air CS-TFX, an A345, `Captain Bob Hayes' was first built as
VT-VJE for Kingfisher Airlines.

When this beauty taxied out, A6 had come in and take its place,
at the gate, from its earlier position at a remote stand.


Some time before our boarding, along came in TransAero EI-UNV, a B77E.
This was ex-VT-AIK, of Air India, Air India's first B777! `Megh Malhar'!

The history included being stored as N205UA of United Airlines,
before being repainted into the old Air India paint scheme (where
she did look splendid, with the red nose!). `Megh Malhar' had a
NLG incident in Mumbai on 16 May 2008, after which forum member
and ace photographer Vivek Manvi had (if I remember correctly),
christened her as `kneel-ambari', a pun on Air India's second
B777, `Neelambari'. I have fond memories of the four B777s (three
B77Es and one B77A), `Megh Malhar', `Neelambari', `Hamsadhwani'
and `Kalyani', named after Ragas in Indian classical music.
VT-AIR `Hamsadhwani' (the only B77A) had also been painted into
the new Flying Swan colour scheme.

Bangkok Airways and Jet Airways entered (24-Apr-2015) into a codeshare agreement. Under this reciprocal codeshare arrangement, Bangkok Airways will codesahre on Jet Airways’ operations between Bangkok and Mumbai and Jet Airways will codeshare on Bangkok Airways services between Mumba and Bangkok. The codeshare services will be open for sale on 30-Apr-2015 and travel will be effective from 04-May-2015.
