This is my first ever trip report I am really sorry if it was not upto the expectation I will try to improve max I am new here still learning
So, this flight was AI938 operating from Dubai to Calicut . This flight took us approximately 3hrs 45min and we were cruising at 35000FT.
This flight is a tough flight for me because with this flight I won’t be returning back to DXB. The hectic part is not about the stay in CCJ, with this trip I won’t be flying much often like before so less flying
Flight Details
• Flight Number AI938
• Sector DXB-CCJ
• Departure Time 01:30 PM
• Arrival Time 07:00 PM
• Scheduled Flight Time 4hrs
• Aircraft Type A321
• REG VT-PPJ
• Route ANVIX L223 TARDI N629 GIDAN P570 EMURU M300 CLC
• PILOT IN COMMAND: CAPT SAJID KHAN
Now before I get too drowsy let’s begin our TRP!
So this flight was to be completed on 18th but we completed it on 19th due to some personal issues. We reached at DXB airport on 10am we completed our immigration customs and other formalities by around 12pm.
After clearing all the check-in procedures we got out boarding pass & I was able to see the Safi Crew
I was too hungry as I didn’t have anything to feed myself, So it was time for Mc DONALDS
We were on time for departure and we got boarded quite early than expected, with this we understood the flight was not cancelled as it is AI we can’t say what will be the NEXT
Gate C10 DXB Terminal 1 | Happy to sit between the wings
I was quite happy to spot the A6-EMM B777-300 as it was the last flight which I had come from CCJ. Sorry, no PIC of the A6-EMM
Departed DXB on time I would like to congratulate the AI team for the on time performance, runway 30R I assume it is a FLAP 1 take-off and I am 100% sure it is a ANVIX2F SID
I will miss this view Eh!
SID CHART showing ANVIX2F
Flying over the beautiful terrains of Muscat
Meals were served during this sector we had a fresh & charming crew for this flight, and this was the first time I saw a smile on the face of AI crew.
Well the new AI cabin crew uniform was looking way better than before & this was the first time I saw the new AI uniform.
The serving started with the usual AI peanut and I ordered for a glass of COKE
Well for those of you who thinks, why didn’t I order for a glass of alcohol I am underage so COKE is enough
The food as usual I took the Non-VEG part (chicken) biriyani
The desert was the best item which was served. During the cruise I ordered for a cup coffee just to generate more energy in me for this flight
Sunset over Arabian Sea I’m gonna miss the view #FL350
As the sun sets we began our descent to Calicut (VOCL) as soon as we flew over the VOR we were radar vectored as there is no STAR for the approach. Well I have to say till now I enjoyed the sound of CFM engines of the A321 although it was very turbulent during the descent path
I also enjoyed the bumps and memes of the people around me as if we never going to make it to Calicut but people still gave a hope as it is not IX , I could make it from their anxious expressions The southern monsoon is well known for the shakes & bumps during approach.
After a bumpy descent we entered for finals Runway 28
Touchdown @ Calicut
I would like to quote here (That was the best landing ever I had in Calicut) & spotted the 9W737
This was one of the best flight ever I had, I am a bit sad as this could be my last flight for a while although I enjoyed this flight especially the bumpy descent phase, the anxious expressions of the PAX & memes.
It wasn’t that turbulent than my previous Calicut trips it used to get even worse than this during monsoons but I enjoyed every single cell of this flight thanks to my loving mom for tickets
Hope to write more trip reports soon! _________________ Do Lipton employees take coffee breaks?

Max737, thank you for a nice trip report with far more technical details than my feeble mind can digest! It is nice that you got `PJ' for the trip, I have had many a memorable trip on this bird. You have some nice pictures in this TR, do you have any of the opened main course? The dessert (sewai/semAi/senthakai pAyasam) looks very inviting! I, The Wife and Junior have some very pleasant memories of a Kozhikode trip, circa Dec'14. Please give us some background as well: you have shifted out of Dubai, are you based at Kozhikode now? We look forward to many more posts from you, including those of trips done in the past.
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Excellent first TR, there Max737!
I'm very glad you enjoyed AI and their A321 workhorse. I assume the IFE and your seat were in good condition _________________ |

As a rejoinder to my first reply, we would also like to know about the current situation at Malappuram/Karipur airport, Kozhikode: about the runway re-carpeting which will keep out the wide-bodies till around November. I guess the A321 will be the largest plane to operate from CCJ till then. From what we saw in Dec'14, in addition tot he impressive and long table-top runway (and great scenery on approach, and take-off!), the terminal building is also impressive with a local touch (the wood-work on the doors, for instance!), and extremely well-maintained.
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Thanks Sumantra! Yes I have currently shifted to CCJ for a small vacation, next month I will be based in COK for my higher studies. I may leave again to DXB to finish up some work.
I would be flying via Muscat so my ride will be on WY(Oman AIR) so hope I can make a TRP _________________ Do Lipton employees take coffee breaks?

The runway works are going on at CCJ for now the type of aircrafts that are allowed to operate CAT A/B/C types only. The A321's of AI & QR are the largest aircrafts currently operating & CCJ is well known for the table top Rwy and scenery
And you would be surprised to read this

Haha thanks Abhijith well yes I enjoyed to my max especially the CFM sounds The IFE was in a good condition but they limit their channels to 6, which I wasn't so happy about the seat condition has really improved comparing my last trip with AI _________________ Do Lipton employees take coffee breaks?

AI sometimes does not switch on the IFE on many short domestic flights, and when they do, they sometimes keep 5 video channels (the 6th is a regional movie channel) on. What I often miss the most is the audio channels. AI often do not switch on the audio channels at all. My regret is that though the IFE is non-AVOD, the choice of programmes is not bad: the audio selection is actually very good.

Great TR and thanks for posting.
Air India food as always is the differntiator and the food looks sufficient for a short haul flight.
Just curious were they serving any alcholic drinks as well? I am guessing you took Coke....

Wonderful TR Max, and from a rather unheard route!
Glad you had a nice experience on the AI A321. The flight in general looks good, and some stunning pictures to go along with it!
Word of advice for the next time - remove the foil of the main meal container and then take a picture. That's where the gems are hidden away!
Welcome aboard, look forward to more TRs from you!
Regards
