AKL To CHC On QF Jet Connect
...and that is an exotic routing for most of us! An exotic routing, and an exotic carrier, for a short hop. Interesting also because you flew a domestic leg in one country on the airline of a neighbouring country. What are the exact arrangements between QF and the NZ authorities for this, and technically, what is this arrangement called? Doing an air trip, especially with a hangover, is not a nice, at least, that is what I can tell from personal experience Razz

Headaches in the air are quite horrid! People in academia are boring people, and given what you have written about your companions' academic leanings, I am sure the headache would not have mitigated one bit, massive leg-room, or a cramped space. At least you had the scenery for comfort. Hunger in the belly simply makes things worse.

Mumbai-Mangalore On Jet Airways With Pics.
I wonder where the pics disappeared with time...given the TRs on this forum concerning IXE, it is indeed exotic to read about a TR a decade back!
Also interesting is the Captain for your flight: was it Captain Deepali Gadolikar? My first fligth on Jet Airways was on the CCU-BOM sector in 2001 (I was a happy Mumbaikar, then), and had gone to CCU on official work, and was coming back on a night flight. I remember the Captain's name, and a slightly bumpy landing on Mumbai's main runway. I can picturise the scene you have described in such detail. I used to like both T1-B and T1-A, back in the pre-renovation days. T1-B had a ncie view of the 09 end of the runway, and while your flight was in the morning, I used to like afternoon flights, to see the action on the main runway, in some great lighting. As to the toddler and the Mummy incident, can I presume that you were single at that time? Razz

What happened en route eee...k, and the non-cooperative lady...not something someone would look forward to!
Your sighting the B74D: wow, `Sundarbans'. An ex-AC aircraft, with a US registration: this sounds complicated!
VT-AIJ: `Neelambari'! You are really lucky to have seen lots of action on the B77Es and B77A in those times. You have described the scenery around beautifully...I wonder if you still have those pictures, and could put them up for us to enjoy, as many did, a decade back!

Spice Jet Report, BOM-DEL Via AMD
...and I was so taken in with old memories, that I managed to read and enjoy, another one from you, before getting ready for work! This brought back memories of the situation at both BOM and DEL, a decade back. It was quite a coincidence that I too took my first SpiceJet flight about a year from your trip, doing the same route, but on a direct flight. BOM-DEL from BOM T1-B and DEL-BOM from the now-razed-to-the-ground DEL T1-B. I remember only cookies and water, but the cookies were quite nice, as were the cabin crew.
Your vivid descriptions have really evoked a stream of my memories from the times you have mentioned...I read this TR a few times before getting to type in this reply. The eTicket-paper ticket commotion, the scene inside BOM T1-B, the sight at T2 (the usual LY B763, and the plane I always yearned to see, the A34E in the old 9W colours!), the take-off views, the description of the passengers...all transported me back in time. Giving up a nice seat for a newly-married couple: I haven't done it even for a little kid: both on trains, as well as on planes. So now you know that I am not a nice co-passenger Smile

Once again, can I request you to also try to put up these pictures? Thanks once again, for sharing a lovely TR with us!

Air Deccan Bangalore-Mumbai (Bombay)
Wow, a BLR-BOM trip for Rs.1971! I remember Deccan offering Rs.700 fares also on some metro sectors, if one booked early enough, in those days. I was never that lucky, however! And it is said that you forget your spouse's birthday only once. I have managed to do it...more than once, and I guess I must thank my luck (and of course, The Wife) for this!
I have written about my policies with regard to window seats, in my previous post, even it if it s little kid Smile

Wow, you saw the two LCA prototypes in action that day!
I can't say I did not enjoy the pre-marriage leg-pulling on the forum Smile

South India Report, TRZ-MAA-BLR-IXE
Interesting routing!
The TRZ-MAA routing looks familiar to us: we have done the reverse in 2008. It was IC 589 MAA-TRZ-TRV-SHJ (we went till TRV)
It is nice to see your pictures still in place for this TR.
It was interesting to see the old (lousy) MAA domestic departures. I never liked it much. The air-side pictures brought back many nice memories, however! It is interesting to be able to see planes from now-defunct airlines in this TR. First Flight's ATP was a pleasure to see.
Do tell us more about IXE's two runways. The newer one was `inaugurated' with one of IT's A319s, during the testing phase, from what I remember.

Now this is a delight: one of the hopping flight on IC's subsidiary CD.
Seat 01F: nice Smile

I miss these light meals, but AI now-a-days has something decent as well, post the *A entry. Thank God for that! Thank you for this TR: I ave nice memories of JDH form my only air visit there, about which I posted a TR a short time back. UDR I have seen (the new terminal) in The Wife's parents pictures. Thank you for sharing this nice TR with us, on a pocket-rocket!

Some of them didn't have the pictures, but I got an idea of the on goings with the descriptions.

2005-2007 was THE time for Indian aviation, imo. And that's just before AI took over IC, IT took over DN and 9W took over S2. The competition was pretty good!
