I'm too lazy to sit and type out a detailed TR, definitely don't have the skill of some of our regular TR posters out there
This is the last flight of a quick holiday, flew EK both ways. 777 and 380. No big surprise but I love the 380. This was EK355 the last flight of the day back to DXB from SIN. Flew with my wife, we had the middle seats together (on their 380s those are the only ones where you can sit next to one another)
I know a few people don't like the seat layout and the huge J cabin but I don't mind it + I like the bar area and I love the aircraft. Way way quieter than the 777 and overall a much better ride.
Usual SIN airport shots. Chritmas time.
To make you feel special.
Didn't seem this orange when we boarded, that's probably the camera.
Controller + mini mini bar
Standard pushback and taxi channel.
Starters. Potato and leek soup which was really really good + tuna something.
Other starter option = chicken with roasted vegies something?
Main course - Sea bass + scollops + shrimp.
Nice, the fish was maybe just a tad firm but I really liked the food.
Bar area. Lots of little things to eat, chips + dip, sandwiches, nuts, fried kebabs, chocolates, cakes, muffins + more. Not to mention the actual bar ...
I rarely drink, but I enjoy hanging out at the bar area. It beats sitting in your seat for 7 hours (or longer) and depending on the time there will be other people there. Nice social area if you're the chatty type or just a nice place to nibble and drink.
Mens amenity kit.
For the girls....

Good clicks, and may I ask which airport you like better? SIN or DXB?
Should be a tough one. _________________ Yeah. |

But you really have the skill to show us what you saw and eat on your A380 flight. It seems to me A380 is a flying palace on the sky. I wish someday I could fly A380 to Kolkata from JFK. _________________ Sabya99 |

I like the feel of SIN more, the layout of the shops and restaurants. SIN has a lot more green, natural green which I miss.
SIN downside = not as spotter friendly. Obviously not an issue for normal people..... but for ppl like us I felt DXB had a better view.
For frequent business/first flyers the lounges in DXB (especially when the new terminal opens) should be amazing but I doubt ill experience much of that hehehe.

DXB doesn't offer much of a view. More than SIN for sure, but the triple-layered glass coupled with the ornate designs on them don't help. _________________ Yeah. |

Nice short report.
Good to know the amenity kit provided in J is of good quality and worth taking home. SQ does not provide anymore.
Emirates has been giving a tough competition to SQ in their home turf, as recently SQ has decided to stop flying to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

I think we are fortunate to have Captains on this forum (you, iflytb20, Optimus.Prime, garytare, ...) among the vast majority of us armchair enthusiasts. To have you contribute to posts here, trip reports, and in general, share your point of view with us - is a privilege.
Thanks, Sumantra. |
