Not too many reports out of there of Etihad's ultra long haul product in Y. And how do they stack up against the bigger competition out of Doha and Dubai? Read on! http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1383589

Find the video trip report here: https://youtu.be/DiLeTJKqSow

Enjoy!

Great TR, both the written one and the video. The meal service on board seems to be really good. Also great to see there was WiFi, was it free? Their IFE could do with some with improvement though.

TSA pre-clearance seems to be convenient, considering the awfully long immigration procedure in the States (my shortest at DTW Terminal N was nearly 3 hours).

Great work!

Thanks for giving it a read!
And a look, I suppose Wink
WiFi was not free - but for $14 for a 24 hour pass seemed like a pretty decent deal. IFE hardware could definitely use some work - since both the narrow bodies and A380s/B787s have a better system.

You know, despite the mess that was a JFK just a few weeks ago, it took me 16 minutes from stepping off a B747 to making it to customs & baggage claim. Pretty impressive, but not as great as AUH pre-clearance (it gets better, do stay tuned!)

Sir, I must say that your last line in the reply to Ananth's post has me intrigued, and clamouring for more. Once again, a wonderful TR.
Why was a new boarding pass needed?
The non-PTV Y seat: in front of every `buddy seat' pair.
US laws prevent congregation of passengers inside a US-bound aircraft? This part is also new to me.
Interesting food, and nice crew: make for a good experience.
I am a bit surprised that you call it `marrow': most Americans would stick with `zucchini'. The latter usage is also catching up in India.
Lovely wing shots, as always!
Lovely pictures of the long shadows of the skyscrapers, beside the Michigan.
Your timing being close to the ANA jet's arrival also told me that the Air India flight would also be there...and there she was, in your photograph! This was a bit of a Deja vu for me: I have seen these sights often, coming in on the then longest Air India flight from Delhi.

Thanks so much for reading this, sir! I don't quite remember why they ripped up the old boarding pass - maybe it had the easy-to-be ripped stub?

As you'll find out here soon, it is a common thing on Etihad, apparently...

Very rarely does one get the both at the same time nowadays...

I just went off of what the menu said, sir Smile

The workings of an international hub at play here... love it!

Do stay tuned for more! Smile
