Dear friends it’s my first trip report, so do reply me so that I can improve the next TR.

I had planned this trip last November, I checked all the website finally MakeMyTrip.com offered me the best prices. I got 4 seats in the Y class for Rs.15500. I chose my date of travel to be 1/1/2012 as it was New Year; I never knew somebody will offer such low prices in this holiday season. I was booked on IT-338 (ETD 22.30).
On the morning of 30th December, I got a call from Kingfisher Delhi office that my flight is been rescheduled to 21.30hrs and we should be there at the airport by 20.15 to avoid any hassle as it was New Year. They also advised us to do the web check-in, so that I could directly go to the security.
Finally the day arrived, on the morning of 1/1/2012 we wished everybody a Happy New Year. I was very much excited about the trip as this was my first trip on Kingfisher airlines. From many days I was tracking the flight status and everyday it was getting late around an hour or so. But luckily that day it was scheduled. I asked father what time we should leave and he said we should leave our home by 18.30 sharp as the airport was about 45kms from my residence. We called a cab for our airport drop.
We did our last minute packing and we left our home by 6.20pm.By the time we left it was raining quiet heavily outside. As expected in Delhi fog had started to descend& traffic was moving slowly till we reached AIIMS (Hospital) and to my surprise roads almost empty from there till IGI. We reached the airport by 8 pm. We were dropped outside gate no.2 at massive Terminal 3. It was too cold outside the departure area so we had move inside quickly. It was nice and warm inside, so we sat around the check in area and I started to explore the terminal a bit. It had not changed very much since I last visited it in the month of July 2011.
We were surprised, when we saw the terminal was almost empty in this holiday season. The entire check-in desks for domestic flights were empty. So we didn’t have any problem stamping our boarding passes & also there were no check-in luggage (only 3 cabin baggage). I quickly got baggage tags and we moved for the security check.
Security was a breeze. We were through the security within 5 minutes .But it took around 10 minutes more to get our luggage screened. By the time we reached airside it was almost 20.30, still around an hour to our departure. Now I switched on my laptop and started to use the free Wi-Fi which is available for 20 minutes only and after that you have to pay around Rs.60 for next 2hrs. I opened flight radar and checked the registration number and found out it was an incoming flight from Mumbai only (IT-333).
Around 20mins later I found that the incoming flight has arrived and boarding for our flight would begin in around half an hour. We started queuing around gate 37B.

Date: 1 January, 2012
Route: Delhi (DEL)-Mumbai (BOM)
Flight Number: IT-338
Aircraft: A321-232
Registration: VT-KFQ
Scheduled Time of Departure: 21.30
Actual Departure Time: 21.50
Scheduled Arrival Time: 23.35
Actual Arrival Time: 23.50
Flight Time: 2hrs 00mins
Class: Economy
Seat: 20A
Finally the boarding started about 21.20hrs.We boarded through an aerobridge. I was welcomed by two very young F/A s (probably in early 20s). One of them checked my boarding pass and showed me the way to my seat. We were one of the first passengers to board, so we got enough time settle down. My father quickly put the luggage in the overhead compartment. Now I settled down in my seat. It was quiet foggy outside and rain has now stopped. After everyone boarded, gate were closed (it was a quick boarding). Now the Captain Singh came on P/A and announced that we are going to land on time despite of the delay caused by the incoming flight. He said we are going to experience a light turbulence. Cabin lights were dimmed& we pushed backed around 21.55hrs.We slowly taxied to the new runway 11/29 and after waiting for MH 190 and 9W 812 to land and EK 515 in front of us to takeoff, we were into the night sky. Within 20mins we reached our cruising altitude (32000 ft) and seatbelt signs were switched off and we were free to move in the cabin.
As this was a short flight so cabin crew sprung into action. Firstly were given our headphones and a wet tissue. Within 20min crew started the dinner service. I ordered a non-vegetarian meal so did my dad and sister and my mom ordered the vegetarian one. Soon my dinner was served at my table. They had Butter Chicken, some vegetable curry, rice and some fruit salad. And for desert they had chocolate brownie. Food was absolutely delicious. The brownie was awesome ( I had my mom’s brownie too). Hats off to King of Good Times. It was already 22.45hrs by the time I finished my dinner. Soon cabin crew came for the drinks & I ordered an orange juice and soon got it served in a glass. Now I started to explore the IFE. They had direct connection from a Indian D2H operator (Dish TV) to provide live TV but I found out that it wasn’t working . All the programs were pre recorded. So I switched to the GPS and flight information mode. I found out we were somewhere over Indore and instead of 32000ft we had climbed to 35000ft. After crossing Surat we started to descent. Now the Captain told us we were going to experience some turbulence, so he advised us to go back to our seats and put the seat belts. Soon the cabin crew came to collect the headphones. Still around 25mins to go , I saw we were circling. I could spot around 4 more aircrafts circling with us. The FO came on P/A an announced we were going to land after a short delay.

Within 15mins I could make out that the flaps were extended fully and landing gear down. Finally we lined up with runway 9/27 (as it was sea side approach). Within 5mins we landed. Landing was quite smooth. Within no time were docked with an aerobridge in the domestic terminal 1B. I thanked the cabin crew for the great flight and wished them Happy New Year. By the time I was greeting them the Captain came out of the flight deck and wished me Happy New Year and I wished him back. Soon I disembarked (I was the last one). Mumbai airport was quite busy at this time of the day. I could spot around 6 departures and 2 landings (all where International flights).First time I saw the B747 of Lufthansa and Air France’s A343 in Mumbai. I could spot Singapore airlines and Jet airways to Singapore and one bird of United airlines to Newark .Soon I was out of the airport. Thus, ending my most memorable trip till date.

Meljoe, I guess the time of the flight precludes taking some good pictures.
On a different note, it is nice to see you on the `Trip Reports' section as well. This is one rare section which does not see you being very active!
Cheers, Sumantra.

Wow! I am guessing you didn't pay separately for this grand Bhoj (for a two hours flight). The meal cost would be about one-third of the meagre price you paid for a seat.

No wonder "King of good Times" is now seeing terrible times at no fault of others!

Keep posting more TRs.

Mr. Banerjee, please do a Google search on "airlinersindia.s4.bizhat.com embed pictures", and you'll get lots of tips on this.
Cheers, Sumantra.

I'm glad you read this section too, Meljoe. I wish I were as knowledgeable as you on technical matters related to aircraft, to contribute much more in other sections. However my expertise is more of the arm-chair category, hence I mostly post in the Trip Reports section. That however doesn't stop me from pushing my limits on other sections, as well!
Cheers, Sumantra.
