It would be really great if you could do that to a picture of an EK aircraft, since that was her favourite airline. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

I have no words.
Basically, Nalini's wish was to fly the SQ A380, and wanted to show all you guys that she was on the A380.
Nitin, if it is vaguely possible to dedicate an exclusive SQ A380 shot, I'm sure that would be the best tribute to her. |

Yes guys I could work on both. Thanks for the information i will get on it right away.
How about we change out airliners-india logo to her favorite aircraft for a few days. And maybe if its possible when u scroll over the picture it can contain her obituary. |

This is a big shock to the forum and I guess, also personal shock to some.
My deep condolences to all those who knew her.
I did enjoy the recent discussions on various subjects and she was indeed quite knowledgable on aviation topics.May her soul rest in peace.
As an aside-The mere fact that a lady was so interested in AVIATION evoked much curiosity about the forum on the part of my wife, and she actually didnt mind me tapping away merrily on the 'Top .
But.... Sad news indeed. |

I just heard from Birendra a couple of hrs back of the sad passing away of Nalini Dev. I am stunned to say the least ! I used to keep in touch with her via yahoo messenger and also eagerly read her interesting and insightful posts on this website. She encompassed a magnanimous spirit with a tremendous zest for life and for her to be snatched away from us is such a cruel twist of fate. All that we're left with are fond memories .
My thoughts and prayers go out to her near and dear ones .
May she always be enshrined in God's loving embrace !

O my god this is terrible, this is shocking I really don't know what to say. You were so informative, so active, so enthusiastic about this shared passion.
This is the saddest moment for Airliners-India; we have lost a member of our family.
We will miss you Nalini.
My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. _________________ eP007 |

Her last post was on 11:05 pm and three hrs later she passed away..
Any idea whether she was recently diagonised and what form of brain cancer was it?SHe was planning to go for class 2 in November.IF she was aware of BC then she wouldn't have ..If it is indeed she who has removed her photograph then it takes a lot of guts when you know you are only living for a couple of hours more...Horrible ...It reminds me of the movie "ANAND"

She was diagnosed with it, when she was 16/17 years old. And she came to know about it later in 2006. She was aware completely for a year and a half nearly that she was dying. |

Here is the last pm from her when i enquired about her class 2 on Feb 18th..
"No I did not give. It basically clashed with my practical exams. I was hoping 9W, SQ come with their training programs, but none of them are coming, which was a huge disappointment. And it is actually taking me away from going for CPL. i might as well start with my job. that's what I think

Bright, young, full of life and so full of enthusiasm for aviation, Nalini your loss is tremendous to the AI.net family. You will be missed! They say the good die young! That is underlined to all of us here. God Bless your soul and comfort all your near and dear. Here's to you, Nalini, as you check in at that great big airport in the sky!

Member Birendra updated me with this devasting news about Member Nalini not being amongst us mortals has made me feel more bad than sad.
The only person whom i knew who had the courage to call a spade a spade on this forum.
Nalini was different and in her memory some words:
Be The Change:
"the edges of things are always deceptive, because we are taught to believe
in endings and beginnings.but the truth is: There Are No Borders."
Nalini is still amongst us, but on a higher ground.
Till we meet again, Nalini. _________________ I love the smell of Jet Fuel in the morning. |

Even though I was not very active member on anet-India, I used to find her posts very .... real. The one that awoke me was Nalini's response to one of the posts about our first female president "Dr. Prathiba Patil".
I always thought her as a arbitrator / mediator whenever a topic was heading towards regionalism. She was full of information on various aviation related developments throughout India and the World. I would like to call her a "Real INDIAN-Nalini Dev".
Hope her soul rest in peace and always motivate us to be a very successful group.

This is most shocking and numbing. May Nalini's soul rest in eternal peace and may God give her near and dear ones the strength to bear this terrible loss. Though I have not been an active member on this forum, I like most of us here had always liked going through her posts. |

I can't control my tears. What a genuine person you were Nalini! Showed such dignity and grace by keeping the news about your cancer to yourself even while exuding so much enthusiasm in your posts.
May your soul rest in peace! |

This is real shocking!!!
For someone like me who browses through this forums pretty frequently she was one of the usual suspects posting her thoughts on all matters aviation in an enthusiastic manner.
R.I.P.
I guess while sharing thoughts on this forum we rarely realise that the person on the other side might be going through something that would be beyond our wildest imagination. Its just very shocking. |

Sigh, I can't seem to shake out the irony of the whole thing. Can't hold it in me anymore and am posting it here.
On Monday night, I was in great relief after 4 days of uncertainty. My wife had just underwent a laparascopy in the evening and the doctors had practically ruled out cancer. They were sending the tissues for a biopsy just as a formality; but I was told that I could now relax.
We were in the Manipal Hospital in Bangalore overlooking the airport. I had not looked out of the window at all during all these days. And on Monday night, I was looking forward to life once again and had sat up and kept watching the planes land in the airport. I remember drowsing off to sleep around midnight, but had got up around 2:20AM and could not sleep. I'd just resumed watching the planes land. My parents were to arrive from the US in the morning, so I had just sat up all night and went to the airport around 5:00AM to fetch them. I just felt so light and relieved that night..
Somehow, it seems to me that Nalini took away whatever was ailing my wife and went off with it to the skies.. I know I sound unnecessarily sentimental and filmy, but I can't seem to shake off this feeling. Life is much much stranger than fiction.. It seems too much of a coincidence that at that specific unearthly time, I was actually wide awake, watching planes and thinking about cancer..[/i] |

Understand your sentiments completely, but the bottomline is that, you are relieved from your tensions. Your emotions are very much valid and one tends to feel like that. |

Hi,
Am not sure of if the below link is suitable for this post..But Nalini's death got back this question from the burried coffins in my mind..
http://near-death.com/
Have a read at the Scientific Evidence Section.Read the experiences of those people.Worth reading. If they are true then Nalini is at a much better place and seeing us all...

I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news. I was wondering what happened to her. Although I am not active, I enjoyed reading her posts.
This just shows that life is fragile and even with the advancement of medicine in treating diseases, there are many things unknown to us.
My deepest condolences to Nalini's family. |

I logged on after a long gap due to college exams and gotta know about Nalini's demise...I can't express my state of mind. I never knew her personally, but I clearly remember the time when she joined... for me, I was amazed to see a female aviation enthusiast on A.net-India... even the posts of the members were full of curiosity... I don't know how to put forward what I'm feeling... I read the posts of fellow members..their interactions etc... She seems to be the cutie of this forum...her lively nature is what made her stand out in this forum... I still can't believe how she fought her life all aware of her health... A true warrior is all I can call this sweet soul.... I'm deeply touched by this incident...
In our own little manner, whatever can be done in her memory will be a true tribute to her...
I'm neither a photographer, neither a critic... All I can do to pay a tribute to her is to change my signature... _________________ Nalini... The Princess of the Sky... You are a star which will continue to illuminate your own A.net-India forever... |

I was not active when she joined, but knew about her, going through her posts now i feel that she was indeed very active and carefree about the fact that she was fading away slowly. Completely like the movie Kal Ho Na Ho.
These people are a rare kind indeed and we must learn from their lives. She probably decided not to sit and curse god about the fact 'why me' but decided to acept the fact and live with it till she could and be happy and not whine.
Members had quizzed her about the airline slogans in one post and she was answering it all, but alas! she did not live to answer the rest of them. Indeed very very sad.
Lets not mourn her death, but celebrate the life that she lead.
Nalini, rest in peace.
regards,

Even though I never had a discussion with her but I used to read all her messages and she was indeed an aviation expert.
